Job Description
We’re looking for experienced, professional CDL A drivers that will share our commitment to our people, partners and planet. As a Class A Truck Driver you will be responsible for safely operating a heavy commercial truck and providing prompt and courteous delivery and removal of large containers of waste in accordance with our environmentally responsible policies and procedures. This position will occasionally require overnight stays (with paid hotel expenses and a nightly Per Diem).
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Label containers and complete pre-printed manifests / work orders. Schedule shipments into or off site.
· Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions and performing general housekeeping duties.
· Operates a hand truck, drum dolly, and pallet jack.
· Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to: Pre-trip inspections of vehicle, report all losses, spills, accidents, and safety violations to supervisor immediately. and resolve leaking containers/containers in non-DOT shippable condition.
· Contacts (Internal/External): Ongoing contact with all levels of Customers on a daily basis in delivering, promoting, and collecting waste containers. Regular contact with many different levels of personnel.
· Perform any other administrative duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required:
· High school diploma or GED
· CDL Class A
· CDL HAZMAT endorsement for transporting waste.
· Two or more years of experience with a dry van trailer or combo vehicle required.
· Knowledge OSHA Regulations.
· Proficiency with Windows based programs (i.e. Excel and Word)
· Ability to operate a drum dolly and pallet jack
· Clean driving record
· Strong attention to detail
· Ability to follow procedures.
Physical and Mental Demands:
· Some College or waste industry experience
· TWIC endorsement
· Strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory/DOT rules and regulations.
· Ability to read a map.
· Knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Maintains a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC)
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The
worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving
vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals. Use of company-provided personal
protective equipment is required.
