Duties Description
The incumbent of this position functions as the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner. The Commissioner is the first in command of approximately 3,000 agency staff and supervises the agency’s executives, including multiple Deputy Commissioners responsible for agency program areas.
The Executive Assistant incumbent of this position performs the following duties:
Collaborate with the Commissioner daily to ensure deadlines are reached.
Manage the Commissioner’s calendar and coordinates events, meetings, and calls with the Executive Chamber and relevant state and federal entities, agencies, and authorities, as well as peer agencies in other states and the public.
Facilitate the Commissioner’s travel needs, including transportation, lodging, and briefing materials prepared by Executive staff.
Edit and summarize documents for the Commissioner and other Executive staff.
Review documents submitted by agency staff and highlights areas for review by the Commissioner or other executive staff.
Act as liaison with the agency’s Executive and management staff and with other agencies as appropriate.
Communicate with the Executive Chamber staff on a daily basis.
Research and assemble information required for the Commissioner to make decisions or to reply to correspondence in coordination with Executive staff.
Draft and issue correspondence for the Commissioner’s signature or other Executive staff.
Coordinate attendance at meetings and events.
Coordinate with the Executive Deputy Commissioner and the Chief of Staff to ensure the Commissioner is prepared and briefed for inquiries.
Supervise other Executive administrative and support staff, including the Commissioner’s Correspondence Unit, which tracks and records all relevant incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Overtime may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
