Description

This position will manage and lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of various  

relationships with corporate foundations, private foundations, and government funding 

entities. This position reports to and assists the Vice President of Institutional Giving. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management: Work with the Institutional Giving VP to develop and implement a comprehensive grant proposal writing program for the agency, including strategy, calendar, and proposal handoff processes.
  • Proposal Writing: Prepare and maintain a schedule of application and report deadlines. Work with programmatic staff to obtain all necessary information and materials for submissions. Serve as the primary writer for outgoing grant LOIs, proposals, and reports. Work with accounting and finance staff on the preparation of budgets and financial statements needed for grant applications and reports.
  • Prospect Research: Research foundations, corporations, and government giving programs to determine the appropriateness of each prospect; attend webinars and information sessions about upcoming opportunities as appropriate; lead regular moves management meetings to keep prospects moving through the pipeline; work with the Institutional Giving VP to establish customized outreach, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Donor and Grant Tracking and Record Keeping: Record grant awards in CRM systems and draft and send grant-related acknowledgment materials. Steward all grants through project completion, including notifying staff of grant awards and the requirements of the grant, including outcomes and evaluation strategies, and working with program staff to fulfill reporting requirements through the grant term. Maintain accurate records of grants applied for, awarded, and declined. Update funders on relevant changes to the programs they fund (including staffing changes, programmatic shifts, and large anticipated budget variances). 
  • Writing and Editing: Support the work of the entire External Affairs Department by providing written materials for use in individual fundraising, events, etc. Provide copy-editing support on a wide variety of communications from the department. 
  • Participate in various city, state, and community-based agency events to enhance the visibility of Envision and increase awareness of its programs.
  • Assist with the Board of Directors’ Resource Development Committee activities and meetings.
  • Provide backup for gift entry, donor tracking, grant gift acknowledgment, and related financial reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

No supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  


EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with 4 years of nonprofit work experience in a government, foundation, and/or corporate fund development capacity.
  • Superb written skills for grants applications and fulfillment reports.
  • Ability to conduct prospect research at the highest level.
  • Excellence in time and task management, attention to detail, and overall organization.
  • Ability to write and speak creatively, analytically, concisely, and persuasively.
  • Familiarity with government, foundation, and corporate funding worlds; experience with I/DD and mental health funders a plus.
  • A personal and compassionate relationship builder able to exemplify and model EU vision, mission and core programs.
  • A networker able to work within the agency to help create a sense of the ”Envision Unlimited Team” and nurture staff relationships that help build up fundraising and public relations opportunities.
  • Comfort and familiarity working with Boards of Directors and other senior executives. 
  • Knowledge of constituent relationship management (CRM) software, strategies, and ideals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual who is able to work independently.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple demands and projects.
