We have an immediate opening for a highly motivated, collaborative and committed individual to fill our Network Engineer position.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Network Engineer (Data Centre Deployments) will support the EOS team & the customers Enterprise Network Engineering team, to carry out a best in class service in relation to design, operations and implementation tasks associated with the network.
The successful candidate will help develop and understand requirements from internal customers and create technical solutions to improve productivity and services. The candidate must have a strong technical background, be innovative and agile, collaborate well in a team environment, and have very strong written and verbal communication skills – a visionary who challenges the status quo and believes that technologies can level-up productivity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Contribute to the design, implementation and ongoing management of the corporate Data Centre and back bone network
- Design, implement and maintain new and existing systems, such as monitoring and analysis, management and alerting, for a complex enterprise network environment that is growing at an unprecedented pace
- Interface with information security and automation teams to design and continuously deliver security-related enhancements
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to automate various processes, aid in capacity planning and changes to network architecture
- Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events and minimize operational complexity.
- Work in a heterogeneous environment containing diverse systems, applications and optimize them to work well together.
- Willingness to work an on-call rotation for outside of office hours support
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- 5 years’ experience with Layer 2 protocols and associated enhancements such as LACP, L2 ECMP, 802.1d/w/s, or 802.1x.
- 5 years of in-depth experience with Layer 3 routing protocols such as OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS and VRFs
- 3 years of experience with stateful firewalls, non-stateful filtering and packet inspection.
- 5 year experience with IPv6 in both native and a dual stack environment
- 3 years experience in programming or scripting to automate / build etc
- Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is required:
- VPN (DVMRP, GRE, IPSec/SSL VPNs,) REQ
- Wireless (802.1a/b/g/n) REQ
- Global and Local Server Load-Balancing (GLB/SLB) NTH
- Multicast (PIM-SM, MSDP, IGMP) REQ
- Knowledge/experience in the following areas is highly desired:
- DC Core, Backbone networks
- Overlay networks
- Openflow/OVSDB
- Network management via SNMP/XML/Netconf
- Cloud management and orchestration systems
- Current Juniper & Cisco hardware platforms
PREFERRED:
- Networking Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIA
- Ability to travel globally (May be infrequent but candidate must be open to travel when required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven organizational skills
- Fluent in spoken & written English preferred
