We are hiring two (2) Full Time, Permanent Manager, Planning and Architecture positions working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Manager, Planning and Architecture is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager, Planning and Architecture, with planning and architecting business and technology solutions primarily for our Water and Electricity business units, as well as other business units as needed. The Manager, Planning and Architecture will be also responsible for the solution architecture of a few, selected projects for these Business Units.

What you’d be responsible for

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning and Architecture, the Manager, Planning and Architecture is accountable for:

• Business Architecture plans and directions, ensuring that each business unit’s Operating Plan, as well as Application Services Architecture strategy and emerging technologies can be used coherently to accomplish strategic objectives in a cost-effective manner.
• Support in collecting information for current and future:
  • Governance Structure
  • Business Processes
  • Business Information Management
• Ensure the existing architecture standards are adhered to and refined as necessary, including providing solution architecture guidance to selected projects.
• Provide leadership to a high-performing team, set appropriate performance objectives for each employee and hold employees accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors.
• The use of existing and emerging technology in direct alignment with business partners and overall BU long-term strategic goals.
• Assess competition and market opportunities and threats, perform research and be familiar with emerging technologies that fit within EPCOR’s environment, and develop and implement relevant plans to improve the function's operational effectiveness.
• Assist with the completion of each BU’s annual budgeting cycle by providing estimates.
• Assist with the completion of each BU’s annual Business System Plan
• Have satisfactory understanding of regulatory frameworks and assist with the completion of each BU’s filing.
• Developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with key business stakeholders within respective areas to ensure delivery or appropriate business results.

Required Qualifications:

• Completed post-secondary Computer Science or Engineering Degree or Computer Engineering/System Technology or Management Information Systems Diploma.
• 10 years’ related experience with business architecture and IT project management processes.
• Strong leadership and facilitation skills in advising and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong Communication skills bridging between business and technology.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, present, and recommend efficient technical solutions to business opportunities and challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A good understanding of the Systems Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) including custom-build and commercial off the shelf (COTS) or SaaS software implementation frameworks.
• A good understanding of new and emerging technology trends.
• Previous management or supervisory experience.
