We are hiring a full-time permanent Systems Analyst position working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

EPCOR Application Services performs operational and project activities for a diverse array of applications including Oracle eBusiness Suite, Geographic Information Systems, Billing, Mobile Apps, Web applications, Work and Asset Management, and small applications.

 

As this Systems Analyst, you are accountable for completing Systems Analyst tasks and providing technical expertise for CAD & GIS applications within EPCOR. You will use your skills and expertise to achieve set operational requirements for ad hoc support, problem ticket support, work requests, and be a resource for major capital projects. This position reports to the Manager, Billing/GIS.

 

This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.

 

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Estimating, designing, documenting and developing high-quality enhancements to EPCOR applications.
  • Employing open communication and analytical skills to resolve operational issues effectively for customers within expected timeframes.
  • Ensuring system reliability and availability through dedicated system monitoring, maintenance and change management.
  • Assisting with the completion of Transition to Operations reviews and checklists.
  • Overseeing root cause analysis on issues to mitigate and prevent future risk.
  • Collaborating with the Application Services team, to create and maintain dependable, efficient, and high-quality application solutions.
  • Executing daily job duties with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Participating in Major Capital Projects as required.
  • Providing positive contributions to documentation and knowledgebase to allow for the long-term sustainability of EPCOR Information Services.
  • Abiding by all Application Services departmental policies and processes.

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Successful completion of a Computer Science or Engineering degree or a Computer Engineering/System Technology diploma.
  • You are a keen technical self-starter interested in continuous learning and innovation.
  • 4 years of related experience - Note: candidates possessing less than the required years of experience may be considered in a developmental opportunity position.
  • Development experience & intermediate knowledge of C# or Java
  • Intermediate knowledge of Oracle database or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of the following would be desirable:
    • Intermediate knowledge of Linux & Windows Operating Systems and associated troubleshooting
    • Application development experience within CAD application frameworks (i.e. AutoCAD, Microstation)
    • Development experience within industry standard GIS applications (i.e. ArcGIS, MapInfo, FME)
    • Knowledge of Oracle Spatial & Graph or Microsoft SQL Spatial
    • Knowledge of business process patterns, data interfaces and functionality of business applications
    • Basic knowledge of GIS Concepts
  • Ability to provide Quality Assurance on estimates, business requirements, application design and programming logic.
  • Demonstrated ability to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with application availability situations.
  • Previous experience with System Delivery Life Cycle using one or more common programming languages.
