Job Title: School Nurse

Reports To: School Health Services Coordinator
Compensation: $65,000- $70,000

Summary:
The School Nurse is responsible for providing health services to students and staff, promoting a healthy school environment, and supporting the educational process by ensuring the health and well-being of the school community. This position is critical in managing health-related issues and implementing health policies within the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide direct care to students and staff for illnesses, injuries, and health conditions.
- Conduct health screenings and coordinate referrals for medical follow-up.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Support and implement health education programs
- Monitor health tracking system
- Implement early identification and intervention programs to detect mental health concerns in students at an early stage.
- Implement the Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment and the School Health Index.
- Provide expert technical assistance to schools in implementing evidence-based strategies for supporting student and family health.
- Develop and deliver training for school staff on wellness practices and strategies, with a focus on building their capacity to implement and sustain effective programs.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through ongoing data collection and analysis and provide recommendations for program improvement.
- Collaborate with staff, partner organizations, and stakeholders to identify and address any challenges or obstacles to program success.
- Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders on program activities and outcomes.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred
- Seeking candidates with appropriate credentials such as Certified School Nurse (CSN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), along with CPR and First Aid certification and relevant experience to provide healthcare services and promote a healthy school environment.

- Strong technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including Zoom, word processing, and spreadsheets
- Current on new instructional technologies
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others

- Ability to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or requests for assistance from district-wide staff members. Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing. Excellent writing skills are

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current driver's license and valid car insurance
- Google certification preferred

- Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional offer of employment is made
