What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oil/Metal Lab Analysis Technician position at Epsilon Systems Inc?
Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a contingent full-time Oil/Metal Lab Analysis Technician in San Diego, CA.
Summary: Provide Oil/Metal lab technical knowledge, and assessment support to our customer in San Diego, CA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze oil in accordance with the NOAP and the JOAP requirements using Oil Analysis standards, methods, and techniques including Material Identification, and perform sample processing for special aeronautical, routine aeronautical, special non-aeronautical and routine non-aeronautical.
- Perform complete spectrometer standardization and daily standardization checks.
- Perform the following oil analysis tests: Particle, Viscosity, Spectrum analysis, water content and total acid.
- Perform oil analysis tests, including lube oil and hydraulic oils used in aircraft and shipboard systems, then document results and provide reports to customers and others as required.
- Utilize proper methods for Material Identification, the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system, handling of hazardous material, and update/document information as necessary.
- Be capable of providing services to include identification, characterization, testing, and evaluation of various materials and substances such as metallic alloys, etc.
- Be knowledgeable of lab test equipment and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure equipment contracts, servicing and calibration scheduling.
- Be knowledgeable of and capable of performing Sensitization of 5000 series Aluminum testing per ASTM G67 requirements.
- Perform Non-Destructive testing on 5XXX series Aluminum utilizing a Degree of Sensitization Probe.
- Perform Spectro Analysis on Metals via X-ray equipment, Florescence Spectrometer and Optical Emission Spectrometer for unknown material identification and material verification.
- Perform hardness test of various metals utilizing Brinell Hardness tester and Rockwell Hardness Tester.
- Coordinate with ships force to perform Silicon Aluminum Bronze testing on union nuts for high-pressure systems to include High Pressure Air, SCBA, Halon, Hydraulics, Steering, RAST, CPP and Anchor Handling, generate report and maintain a filing system for records.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD SECRET clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of the Navy JOAP school
- Qualified in one or more of the following: Command Generic Martial Identity Examiner, ARL QUANT’X EDXRF, Generic Material Identity Test Inspector, Degree of Sensitization Probe Operator (Issued by ELECTRAWATCH), Analytical X-Ray
ADA Limitations:
- Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise
- Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 25 lbs. in weight
- Ability to work in office, warehouse, laboratory, pier side, and shipboard locations.
- Noise conditions range from very quiet to loud, hearing protection may be required at times.
