Epsilyte is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Peru, IL.  The Process Controls Engineer’s primary purpose is to provide support and upkeep of the process control system and plant historian for our expandable polystyrene (EPS) production facility. The Process Control Engineer is responsible for programming changes, troubleshooting issues, ensuring the reliability of the system, and identifying and implementing improvement opportunities. The Peru facility operates a batch suspension polymerization process. The main process control system was recently upgraded to a new Emerson DeltaV DCS system with plans to transition any PLC covered areas to DeltaV.


Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance and troubleshooting of process control systems, primarily DeltaV
  • Work with operations, maintenance, and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues 
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for process control system
  • Specify and purchase Emerson DeltaV DCSs, drives, and other electrical components and equipment
  • Train operators and engineers on control systems
  • Execute changes and manufacturing initiative projects related to the control systems such as upgrades, process optimizations, expansions, and any other related tasks
  • Follow management of change process
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and investigations
  • Serve as site administrator for OSIsoft - PI plant historian


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and technical experience
  • Experience programming Emerson DeltaV control systems is preferred
  • Specific knowledge of batch process control is preferred
  • Familiar with virtualized servers is preferred
  • Experience with data historians and visualization tools  is preferred
  • Preferred knowledge of Modicon Quantum and Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Preferred knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Result driven and self-motivated.
