Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer II works independently to improve companywide manufacturing systems and processes with additional tools and/or automation. This role designs, tests, and evaluates manufacturing processes to improve the efficiency and ergonomics. Using their strong analytical, diagnostic, and project management skills, the Mechanical Engineer II will determine methods and procedures to solve complex problems.

- Analyzes existing manufacturing processes and looks for opportunities to improve the manufacturing operation through the use of additional tools and or automation.
- Designs and manufactures tools, jigs, and other automation equipment to improve the efficiency and ergonomics of the manufacturing operation.
- Prepares detailed CAD drawings and specifications of equipment design for use by outside vendors in the manufacturing of components.
- Utilizes internal Machine Shop to fabricate components to reduce cost or improve upon delivery time.
- Researches new automation equipment and coordinates with vendors and Purchasing to procure new equipment and perform proof of concept checks.
- Establishes spare parts inventory requirements for new automation equipment.
- Leads the set-up of equipment for the introduction of new models/new processes.
- Evaluates existing internal resources and equipment to see if it can be adapted and incorporated into new processes.
- Develops maintenance protocol for new equipment considering staffing and budgetary requirements. Maintains equipment performance logs.
- Supports and/or leads team projects as needed.
Other Responsibilities

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 3-5 years related engineering experience.
- 1-2 years experience with CAD preferably SolidWorks.
- Ability to troubleshoot and write basic PLC programs.
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work cross-departmentally and with outside vendors.
- Ability to write/develop technical reports.
- Ability to use machine shop tools and equipment.
- Proven experience writing, developing, and delivering technical reports and presentations.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven project management abilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in a manufacturing, cleanroom, and/or office environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of noise, specialized apparel and safety equipment, and moving mechanical parts. This position will have exposure to and use of materials listed in the companys Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
