Position Summary:
The Intensive In-Home Counselor is responsible for providing families with a wide array of services to equip and supply family members with the necessary tools to successfully prevent out of home placement or reunification services.
Primary Performance Objectives:
Use the training and supervision guidance to implement an evidence-based clinical interventions not limited to but including individual, group, and family counseling, assessment, parenting skill building, and motivational interviewing techniques.
Teach by direct methods, generally including the following components: presentation of the skill, modeling, role-play, constructive feedback, coaching, praising and encouraging.
Develop an understanding of systems that serve families including the legal, social services, health care, and school systems. Consults and advocates with other service providers when appropriate to help family members meet their goals.
Perform duties and documentation requirements in accordance with agency requirements
Work with children, youth and families as a partner toward successful accomplishment of goals developed by the family to move them toward their version of success.
Understand and leverage community-based supports and services for the family.
Qualifications
Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related human service field.
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related human service field with at least 1 year of direct social service experience.
LPC-A, LMFT-A, LMSW Preferred
Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church
Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry and Sex Offenders Registry.
