What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leader - Data Engineering & BI position at Equifax?

Equifax is seeking a Senior Director to join our Leadership team within Consumer Regulated Systems (Information Technology).

The successful candidate will be experienced and motivated, with a strong sense of both urgency and ownership of outcome. This role will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Consumer Regulated systems – acting as a Coordinator for critical initiatives, delivering against high expectations and pressing deadlines. The candidate must be able to effectively manage the impact to the broader organization, be detailed-oriented, and communicate effectively across all levels of the enterprise. Status reporting and providing transparency into issues and the transformation process will be a key objective and determinant of success.

What you will do:

  • Provide technical leadership to drive delivery and execution of the overall Data Engineering & Analytics technology vision. Accelerate building and improving foundational and emerging technology capabilities centered around data and analytics technology such as foundational data assets, data engineering pipelines, data platforms, data products, and analytics & decisioning technology.

  • Engage in cross-functional relationships with Business Product Owners, Data Scientists, and Analysts to understand product needs and delivery expectations.

  • Drive adoption of new products, platforms, and data assets

  • Build & mentor high-quality engineering teams that deliver high quality, performant solutions that drive customer and business outcomes.

  • Drive a product mindset and cross functional team structure to support the strategy and fast paced delivery of quality solutions

  • Provide product management for technology deliverables including planning, estimation, coordination and execution

  • Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas including process management, resiliency and quality

  • Establish and ensure adherence to an enterprise data management framework for data policies, standards, and practices

  • Collaborate with data domain owners, engineering, and information technology and perform the activities associated with managing the quality of data assets

  • Monitor data quality for accuracy, completeness, consistency, credibility, correctness, accessibility, compliance, confidentiality, efficiency, precision, traceability, understandability, availability, portability, and recoverability within the established data management policies

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, functional owners, data owners and analysts to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure key enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable

  • Coordinate all data activities with other organizational governance teams, working within established protocols and policies

  • Define, develop, and measure data management key performance indicators (KPIs) to continuously monitor data quality

  • Maintains accountability for a team of Employees and Contractors and their results in a high-performing Technology team.

  • Acts as primary point of contact for the status of issues, risks, barriers, as well as internal and external communication

  • Partners with other IT organizations, Security, Operations, and other business units to drive progress in issue remediation – advocating for our agenda as opposed to being a passive recipient. Responsible for Cyber-Security posture, including vulnerability management.

  • Takes ownership of documenting issues and risks - escalating to leadership as appropriate

  • Acts as the liaison between the team, leadership, and other key stakeholders

  • Achieves KPI targets and maintains SLAs for system uptime and mean time to repair

  • Maintains strong working relationships with direct reports, stakeholders, peers, and leaders

What you will need:

  • 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Technology, Business Intelligence, and Analytics - including technical and managerial leadership of teams. Ideally has extensive background in Technical Operations of mission critical systems reporting. Extensive experience in Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Data Reliability Engineering, and Business Intelligence

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline. Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience with Cloud - preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and Looker. AWS equivalent platforms/tools are acceptable if the candidate is committed to gain GCP certifications in the first 90 days.

  • Experience in Digital Transformation, Cloud adoption and Data Governance Leadership

  • Experience with leading Large scale cloud data solutions

  • Experience in building scalable and reliable platforms, ML platforms a plus.

  • Experience in distributed computing, data pipelines and AI / ML workflows preferred.

  • Experience with large scale data implementations

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and manage virtual teams of onshore and offshore resources.

  • Experience in cloud based data platform capabilities including Data Warehousing, Data Visualization and Data Management

  • Previous experience leading & managing data organizations through significant change management/transformations

  • Deep knowledge of data management and Cloud big data technologies and methodologies, as well as proven experience translating data into business value

  • A passion for coaching and mentoring both inside and outside of professional endeavors

  • Able to break down issues into manageable chunks to resolve issues and barriers

  • Able to multi-task and keep on top of several resources and tasks at once

  • Able to understand team dynamics and mediation skills to guide team members in building strong partnerships with one another and other groups to accomplish goals

  • Demonstrated success identifying, recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent

  • Holds team accountable for delivering against priority tasks with established levels of quality and speed

Salary : $70,700 - $89,500
