Project Accountant II
1. Provide excellent accounting and financial reporting augmentation support during university-wide ERP implementation project period.
2. Perform specialized analytical duties using multiple reporting tools including SUNY Bl, Tableau, OBIEE, and Microsoft Excel, and Access.
3. Collect, analyze, and develop data relative to the Budget, Financial Planning and Analysis Office and Accounting Office and the University, and make informed recommendations.
Mandatory requirements for accountants:
1. Experience in GAAP financial reporting and internal controls.
2. Ability to learn quickly and efficiently to allow current staff time to focus on ERP implementation.
3. Experience gathering, analyzing, and evaluating complex information in accounting information systems (PeopleSoft).
4. Experience data mining with large data sets
5. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel to include use of advanced formulas and functions.
6. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated and detail-oriented investigative thinker with a strong customer service orientation, superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
7. The incumbent must have excellent analytical and critical problem-solving skills that will assist in the identification of key issues and the ability to use inductive reasoning in complex situations.
8. Requires a B.S. or B.A. degree in accounting, with a C.P.A./C.M.A. preferred.
Preferred requirements for accountants:
1. Minimum of five - eight years experience in accounting preferred.
2. Augmentation and project backfill work experience preferred.
Description of Duties to include, but not be limited to:
1. The Senior Project Accountant will provide augmented accounting support for key staff members during an extensive ERP implementation project period and will need to learn duties quickly and efficiently in order to allow current staff optimal time for project work.
2. The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for performing operational accounting duties in the Accounting Office using multiple reporting tools including SUNY Bl, Tableau, OBIEE, and Microsoft Excel, and Access.
3. The Senior Project Accountant will be expected to collect, analyze, and develop data related to the BFP& A Office, Accounting Office, and the University, as needed and make informed recommendations.
4. The Senior Project Accountant will provide augmented accounting support to multiple functional areas within the team, including Cash, Revenue, Expenditure accounting, etc.
