Under the medical direction of the pathologist and under the administrative direction of the Technical Manager or site Manager, the Cytotechnologist is a clinical laboratory practitioner who, pursuant to established and approved protocols of the NYS Department of Health, performs cytological procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, as determined by the department.
State License Requirement: New York
Schedule Notes: 1st Shift (Client can be flexible with the hours, current staff starts anywhere from 05:00AM - 07:00AM) FULL-TIME

Job Description: Cyto Tech
Under the medical direction of the pathologist and under the administrative direction of the Technical Manager or site Manager, the Cytotechnologist is a clinical laboratory practitioner who, pursuant to established and approved protocols of the NYS Department of Health, performs cytological procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, as determined by the department.
- May have frequent contact with patients, hospital employees, physicians, pathologists, nursing personnel, visitors, laboratory personnel, vendors, regulatory or accrediting agencies and students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Main responsibility is: High complexity testing.
- The employee is regularly both stationary and required to move about from work station to station.
- Frequently required to perform duties associated with the use of computer and laboratory instruments; to grasp small objects and perform tasks associated with hand-eye coordination; to distinguish details of objects less than a few feet away and determine and detect difference between size, color, numbers, shades and brightness as well as different sounds.
- Must have the ability to frequently lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to make independent decisions, proven interpersonal and communications skills, ability to adapt to changing workload and stressful situations, and resolve routine problems without supervision.
- Must have NYS Cytotechnologist license (NYSDOH)- REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology, or related area. - REQUIRED
- New York State Department of Education license or a limited permit - REQUIRED
