Job purpose / Position summary
The Wind Farm Technician performs operation and maintenance work on wind turbine generators and balance of plant equipment including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and modifications.
The Wind Farm Technician is also responsible for identifying and reporting safety issues, and ensuring that all safety and health requirements are followed.

- Report any and all safety issues related to the project
- Identify potential safety problem areas with ongoing field and shop activities
- Troubleshoot, test and repair all related wind turbine generator (WTG) equipment
- Perform detailed quality audits of maintenance and repairs
- Perform QC inspections on subcontractors' work
- Perform diagnosis and repair to wind turbines as directed by the Site Supervisor
- Service, adjust, and investigate potential problems; identify damaged and / or worn components
- Complete all documents required to perform repairs and service to WTGs
- Prepare and maintain proper documentation to support repairs, including parts usage and time worked
- Maintain inventory of tools, consumables and parts used; assist with inventory counts
- Ensure cleanliness of facility, tools and equipment
Qualifications
- 1 years of experience as field technician
- Wind turbine generator basic training
Skills / Abilities
- Ability to work closely with fellow employees, managers and supervisors
- Ability to use computer and MS Office
- Ability to read and understand all materials related to repairing, troubleshooting and servicing WTGs and balance of plant
- Excellent documentation skills
- Good communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be available to be on call for up to two weeks at a time
- Must be available to work holidays if needed
- Must be available to work extended hours as needed
Location / Working conditions
- Job is located at the wind farms in Montana
- 10% Office / 90% Field
Physical requirements
- Must be able to climb a wind turbine generator and follow boundary limits and required safety PPE when working around high voltage electrical equipment.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions, i.e., cold temperatures, snow, rain, and heat.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to travel.
- Must have valid driver's license.
