The Drill Operator operates a production and exploration drill. Is responsible for operating drill based upon designated drill pattern. The Drill Operator is also required to collect and is responsible for maintaining and replacing drill bits and completing general housekeeping tasks.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
When operating a production drill and an exploration drill, Drill Operator tasks include but not limited to:
- Attends morning line out and safety meeting
- Completes pre-op inspection of drill
- Uses a grease pump to grease drive line
- Reviews turnover from previous shift for location for drilling
- Operates drill to move to next drilling location
- Monitors computer screen for depth and pressure levels
- Uses tape measure to confirm depth of hole drilled
- Places stake by hole w/ initials, targeted depth, and actual depth written on it, places tag onto sample bags
- Operates drill to move to next drilling location
- Places bit basket into drill hole to change out drill bit, places bell onto removed drill bit and uses winch to remove unit from the drill hole, places used drill bit onto back of truck to be dopped off at bit pile
- Greases rotor head, hooks up hose to compressor, change out drill bits
- Drills designated areas that have been streaked out
- Measures depth using pipes, places stakes back into holes, changes out buckets of samples that are collected using a chute, ties off bags of samples and sets aside for exploration to pick up
- Operates a backhoe to transport large water totes and dig trenches
- Cleans deck & cab of drill using broom and air hose
- Cleans windows, floors, and controls in cab of drill
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- 3 or more years of experience operating heavy equipment in a mining related field
- Must complete a pre-employment physical in which they are required to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must complete all pre-employment screenings
