Admissions Counselor - - OASAS Counseling Center - Full Time (40 hours)

Mon.-Fri. Daytime hours, with flexibility to meet the needs of the clients

Position Summary:

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting in the engagement, screening, assessment and admission of clients and/or significant others referred to the Equinox Counseling Center. They also provides treatment referrals, psycho-education and brief counseling interventions to assist in supporting clients in their process of recovery. Admissions Counselor works with Counseling Center staff to assist in making decisions regarding admission, discharge, referrals or continuing care plans.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree with at least 2 years experience in substance abuse field required
• Qualified Health Professional Preferred which may include CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, MSW, Occupational Therapist, LMHC, MHC (permit eligible)
• Knowledge of substance abuse and recovery concepts required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a fluctuating caseload of walk in clients that are seeking assessments and/or services through the Equinox Counseling Center
• Provide individual intake interviews, screening, assessments and treatment referrals
• Coordinate outreach efforts in the community to assist in generating referrals and promoting Equinox Counseling Center program services
• Engage and prepare clients for potential admission to the Counseling Center.
• Provide other services as needed, including urine drug screens, assisting participants with securing benefits, housing, employment, and other basic needs.
• Accurately document all services and maintain timely case records within agency policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with other Counseling Center staff the provision of crisis services and substance abuse treatment.
• Coordinate participant recovery efforts with collateral contacts and other treatment providers.
• Promote participants community integration and inclusion.
• Attend Workshops, conferences and trainings
