The Business Affairs Manager is an essential member of the team, serving as the bridge between MPACS and Legal/Brand partners. The Business Affairs Manager has a hybrid responsibility that includes reviewing and advising MPACS creative teams on creative materials. The Business Affairs Manager is the first line of review, working closely with legal counsel.

- Exhibit proficiency in the knowledge and skills essential to this role, keeping current on evolving legal/contractual, talent, and brand nomenclature topics. Ensure MPACS is complying with corporate and regulatory guidelines in these areas.
- Help complete contracts/agreements (in coordination with Legal/Procurement as appropriate) for production, talent, music, design, and other creative services. Participate in negotiation of terms as appropriate.
- Review all MPACS creative output for compliance issues (third party rights, copyright notification, claim substantiation, etc.). Select items for further review/consultation with Legal, Brand, or other internal partners when warranted.
- Review incoming Compliance and Conflicting Product Requests to determine in coordination with Legal and Alliance Management executives whether limited rights can be granted. Track all requests and decisions.
- Build and rely upon a foundational knowledge and understanding of contractual rights and obligations of alliance partners, including understanding differences between various Disney segment’s use of IP rights.
- Understand the value of third-party programs in connection to Disney through promotions, sweepstakes, messaging, and integration and the importance of protecting the value of these rights.
- Act as a strong advocate on behalf of creative partnership work, focusing on creative development and positioning versus simply getting approvals. Solution-oriented with the goal of finding a path to “yes.”
- Help develop and maintain database of executed contract/agreements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Demonstrated contractual experience (e.g., compliance or paralegal) and familiarity with contractual terms and work product review for legal, nomenclature, compliance issues, and risk assessment
- Minimum of 5 years of marketing, advertising, sponsorships, brand campaigns, business affairs, or related business experience
- Demonstrated understanding of a variety of communication mediums including video, print, digital, email, collateral, and OOH and the production process supporting each
- Understanding of intellectual property rights and use options with significant professional experience reviewing IP integration, positioning, and messaging
- Ability to navigate complex issues and assess risk/payoff
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to clearly articulate a point of view/position at multiple levels within and outside the organization
- Team player with outstanding interpersonal and relationship skills; leads with a service orientation that seeks to understand needs and deliver services in a professional manner
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and time management skills and a sense of urgency
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Self-starter: holds oneself accountable for deliverables with an ability to prioritize workload based on business needs
- Solution-oriented professional who solves problems (or elevates issues as appropriate) when the inevitable snags occur to ensure deadlines are met

- Ability to work with bi-coastal teams who have competing, but equally important priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SAG-AFTRA Talent Residual parameters
- Knowledge of music rights/usage
- Paralegal certificate
