POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Prevention Programs will collaborate with the Director of Prevention Programs to plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities in the Prevention Department, focusing on the development and implementation of community-centered HIV/STI prevention strategies to meet current and future needs of Equitas Health’s clients and communities. This individual will support the Director of Prevention Programs in the leadership and implementation of all department-specific: comprehensive and innovative HIV/STI prevention strategies including but not limited to PrEP health navigation, harm reduction initiatives, and HIV/STI testing; people-first personnel leadership; quality improvement, onboarding and continuing education initiatives; ongoing development of standard operating procedures; full-cycle grant administration; and, other interdepartmental assignments as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, traveling, driving or having reliable transportation; written communication; utilizing a computer for typing and patient/client care; attending meetings; presenting to small groups; recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the department; oversees the daily workflow of the department and provides constructive and timely performance evaluations; facilitates teams success while addressing discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and in a timely manner.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• Assist the Director of Prevention Programs with leading and coordinating all community-centered
HIV/STI Prevention strategies and tactics throughout Ohio.
• Supports the implementation and communication of the strategic direction of Equitas Health’s
Prevention Team.
• Act as the regional director for staff throughout Equitas Health’s service area including, but not
limited to, Columbus, Toledo, Lima, Akron, Youngstown, Portsmouth, Athens, Cincinnati, and Dayton.
• Build supportive relationship with direct reports, allowing for professional development and
understanding. Administrative supervision to staff includes performance evaluations, monitoring
Key Performance Indicators, punctuality and reliability, and job performance.
• Provide training and ongoing coaching for Sr. Managers, Managers, and others as needed,
ensuring they have a solid understanding of their responsibilities in the following areas:
procurement and contracting processes, grant reporting and program implementation, managing
partner and funder relationships, client confidentiality, personnel leadership, etc.
• Work with staff to establish relationships in all communities across the state with other HIV/STI
testing and navigation service providers and coalitions, while building new and maintaining
ongoing relationships with other service providers serving the identified priority communities.
• Assist in planning and leading regular department-wide meetings and department-specific
leadership meeting to establish and maintain an open line of communication with the Prevention
team.
• Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s overarching
goals and objectives.
• Proactively assess client satisfaction and internal/external customer service, and respond quickly
and appropriately to grievances. Suggest program improvements based on operational
knowledge or best practices to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
• Identifies, recommends, and implements new programming opportunities as partnerships and
funding emerge in the network.
• Collaborates with members of the Programs leadership team to implement quality improvement
and evaluation, data validity, and data engagement strategies for Prevention Programs.
• Implements project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, funding, and
community partnerships in alignment with the strategic priorities of the Prevention department.
• Communicates, implements, and assures adherence to the Prevention department’s policies,
practices, standards, and procedures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution of
strategic priorities.
• Monitors and administers the department’s budget in a fiscally responsible manner. Contribute to
the fiscal health of the organization through intentional development of downstream revenue and
management of program income.
• Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the Director of Prevention Programs and
other leaders as requested.
• Ensure client files and records are maintained as directed by agency policies and procedures and
grant requirements resulting in successfully passing all audits.
• Keep informed about the latest innovations in HIV/STI research and trends, and use as a catalyst
for ongoing growth and innovation within the Prevention Department. Maintains knowledge of
emerging trends in related fields.
• Encourage employees to strive for operational excellence by continually challenging old methods
or ways of thinking and taking responsible risks to maximize results; serve as a role model in
innovative thinking and in focusing on quality within work.
• Advise the Director of Prevention Programs regarding compliance with all regulatory and
accreditation requirements.
• Recognize personnel development needs and capability gaps for staff and ensures proper
training is developed and provided.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Exemplary customer service, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have at least three years of direct-service experience, preferably in a community-based
health-care setting or public health entity and three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in a Management/Leadership role in a Multi-Disciplinary Team setting within a
Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of CDC regulations and guidelines and experience in community-centered HIV/STI Prevention program management.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills.
• Must have sensitivity to, interest in and competence in cultural differences, HIV/AIDS, minority
health, sexual practices, chemical dependency and a demonstrated competence in working with
persons of color, and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender community.
• Ability to be flexible in work hours.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Tableau, EPIC, and related software.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required.
SALARY RANGE: $84,500 - $105,600
