What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Equity Bank?
- Manage the general ledger, including structure and integrity, to ensure accurate financial reporting to our shareholders, regulators, and internal leadership;
- Manage reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts on a pre-defined, periodic basis in line with relative risk;
- Responsible for the enhancement and oversight of key financial reporting and general ledger integrity controls;
- Manage payment of vendors and reimbursement of employees from across the organization;
- Lead a team of accountants, reconciliations specialists, and accounts payable personnel;
- Develop team members to be best positioned for success and advancement within Equity Bank;
- Effectively work with leaders from across the Finance and Accounting function at Equity Bank to ensure appropriate and accurate financial information for the purposes of analyses and financial management;
- Help lead the production, consolidation, and analysis of financial results across major business units;
- Assist the Controller in dispensing other responsibilities and in the completion of additional projects as directed by senior leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting;
- 5 years of applicable business experience, preferably with a financial institution or associated regulatory body;
- Proficient knowledge of GAAP;
- CPA license holder desired, but not required;
- Proven expertise in general ledger management, operational accounting, and team leadership;
- Experience working with and supporting several business units;
- Ability to cultivate effective relationships and communicate effectively with executive and senior management;
- Ability to meet deadlines and work with no supervision; manages time for high productivity and allocates resources to match production needs.
- Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and carefully monitor, follow through, and complete projects.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
