Supervises School Health Office, meets medical and care needs of students and staff in building, renders first aide as necessary, maintains all records and reporting related to health and safety of students and staff.
Specific Duties
1. Performs visual and auditory screening examinations of students and employees when requested.
2. Dispenses medication prescribed by a licensed physician and monitors health status of students taking medication.
3. Administers first-aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.
4. Prepares and maintains health records for school authorities.
5. Arranges to transport sick or injured students or employees to hospital, home, doctor's office in case of emergency.
6. Inspects the school plant, playground, and cafeteria and reports on general safety and sanitary conditions.
7. Orders, inventories, and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment.
8. Consults with staff members and administrators regarding student health and health issues as needed.
9. Prepares records and reports as required.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Civil Service Qualifications:
- Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse
- Must hold valid NYS Registered Nursing license
