Position Title: Automotive Mechanics Technology Instructor
Location: Erie High School
Term of Employment: Teacher Contract
Salary: per teacher contract
Reporting Relationship: Director of CTE
Qualifications
Candidate must have a 4 years full time experience in the field within the last 10 years
Must be willing to earn teacher certification in vocational education at Indiana University of PA.
Education And Experience
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educators, students, parents and larger community
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and be highly organized.
Must be knowledgeable on diagnoses and repairs to specifications – brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Must be able to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to students.
Must be able to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
Must maintain an organized and safe lab.
With strong leadership skills and a student -focused attitude to go along with a high level of motivation and energy.
Must be able to coordinate training opportunities utilizing community resources.
Must be able to coordinate a technical advisory committee for the program.
Promote positive working relationships
Implement a curriculum that fosters all areas of skill development
Use appropriate and effective teaching approaches
Provide ongoing assessments of student progress
Establish and maintain relationships
Provide a safe and healthy learning environment
Integrate academic skills and aptitudes necessary for postsecondary education, gainful employment and a foundation of lifelong learning
Physical requirements are similar to those in a garage setting
Evaluation: Conducted annually by Director of CTE
