Job Summary:
The Surgical Services Business Director reports to the Vice President of Surgical Services and works collaboratively with the surgical and perioperative directors across the health system to develop, evaluate, and maintain processes and reports to support the operational and strategic needs of the service line.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, contract management, evaluating current financial and inventory practices, charge audits, statistical analysis of procedure costs and OR utilization, budget and metric variances, and informatics support of the current electronic documentation program in relation to revenue reporting and supply cost. This team member attends regularly scheduled meetings; designs and implements data collection tools; prepares and displays data concerning operations, improvement initiatives, and system changes; works with financial resources to ensure accurate billing, tracking of volumes, expenses; and prepares financial analyses for new programs within Surgical Services.
Education:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Management, Business, or other related field.
Preferred:
Master's Degree in health/hospital administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
At least 5 years of progressive experience in managing functions and departments in a clinical &/or business role with a knowledge of workflows and systems.
Experience:
Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management to include an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exist in the health care industry. These include, but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, health care economics, personnel administration, federal, state, and local laws, financial management, and trends in the health care industry.
Preferred:
Specific experience with perioperative business development and or management at the director level.
