What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Compliance Consultant (Field Based) position at ERM Group?
ERM is hiring an EHS Compliance Consultant in Memphis, TN to assist an essential ERM Client. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance with applicable regulations and existing company standards and contributing to an environment where employee health and safety is preserved. This is a part-time position working up to 24 hours per week the first month and an average of 16 hours per week for the remainder of the project. This position is a fixed-term role with a duration of 36 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review wastewater discharge program and coordinate with local wastewater authority to assure compliance with discharge regulations
- Coordinate waste management efforts including signing hazardous waste manifests, scheduling waste pickups with waste disposal contractors, signing hazardous waste manifests, and implementation of waste reduction program
- Stormwater applicability review and preparation of No Exposure Certification (NEC), as needed
- Review and revise biohazard safety and security programs and implement procedures, as needed
- Review and revise chemical safety programs and hazard communication (hazcom) program, as needed and maintain safety data sheet (sds) database and/or binder
- Develop Emergency Action Plan (EAP), as needed
- Review and sign safety forms, as applicable
- Attend and present at EHS meetings
- Coordinate safety day activities
- Coordinate environmental month activities
- Perform annual program reviews
- Perform monthly inspections including:
- First Aid kits
- AED
- Warehouse racking
- Chemical storage areas
- Hazardous waste storage area
- General EHS
- Perform safety trainings such as Hazcom, PPE, emergency response, and bloodborne pathogens
- Coordinate annual emergency drills
- Prepare monthly internal benchmarking reports
- Other tasks as needed, such as Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development, personal protective equipment (PPE) review and selection, Management of Change (MOC), contractor oversight and incident investigation
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years of experience in environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance
- BS in environmental science/environmental health and safety, engineering, or related discipline
- Possess a working knowledge in environmental compliance, environmental permitting, and Health & Safety
- Strong MS Office computer skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Local to the Memphis area
- Possess a valid driver’s license
