Background
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), provides secure and timely access to global environmental data and information from satellites and other sources to promote and protect the nation's security, environment, economy, and quality of life. Under NESDIS, the Office of Satellite Product Operations is responsible for maintaining the comprehensive scheduling and data information for both Geostationary and Polar orbiting satellites along with providing products derived from the data collected by these satellites. OSPO is supported by the Data Operations Support Team (DOST) in conducting critical activities supporting OSPO in its JPSS mission.
Position Description
The Satellite Product Analyst will monitor and track the polar satellite product change process and product life cycle transitions under the guidance of the JPSS Data Operations Manager (DOM) and JPSS Product Area Lead (PAL). Prepare slides and materials for meetings, take notes and prepare meeting minutes, coordinate the communication among program stakeholders. Prepare reports for product outages, impacts. The Satellite Product Analyst will facilitate high-level meetings with international stakeholders and coordinate communications between NOAA and international partners.
Required Skills
5 years of experience related to the position. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Experience with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Desired
Experience related to NOAA's polar orbiting satellite data product generation and distribution processes.
Education
BS in computer science, related discipline, or equivalent.
Location
This is a hybrid position requiring on-site work at NOAA's College Park facility.
