Senior RF Application Software Product Engineer

Position Description

This position is physically located in Albuquerque, NM. Hybrid work schedules for local candidates or fully remote arrangements for candidates in other locations in the United States will be considered. Up to 30% travel to Albuquerque NM may be required. This position will directly support US DoD customers and requires U.S. citizenship to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance.

What do we do? 

We are a team of software engineers, computational scientists, and DevOps engineers working collaboratively with RF applications and space physics subject matter experts from government and academia to develop next-generation RF propagation applications for US government customers.  We are both individuals with innate problem-solving and a team with strong engineering discipline. We tackle challenging physical science modeling and simulation and apply best-practices in software engineering while maintaining collegial work culture and promoting a work-balance lifestyle. 

What will you do? 

• Help build enduring RF processing software assets to continuously deliver innovative RF impact products to DoD missions 
• Apply software ingenuity to creating key integration gateways between science code and computing infrastructure 
• Promote API-first approach and deliver robust software implementation 
• Design and implement large-scale automated numeric regression testing infrastructure  similar to NOAA UFS HST  
• Mature computing infrastructure 
• Rescue/reverse-engineering troubled scientific code 

Required Skills

• US citizenship, due to the nature of the work and contract requirement
• Minimum of 10 years of experience developing Fortran, C/C , Python,
• Must have knowledge and experience working in the Unix/Linux development environment, command line, and shell scripting, in developing numerical computational analytical software. 
• Expertise in make-based build tools and git for large-scale and distributed software development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Desired

• Experience or background in space weather science or ionosphere physics and RF communication and radar is highly desirable.
• Experience architecting Kubernetes solutions, GitOps, and other foundational AWSGovCloud technology is desired

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or another relevant field
