Position Title: Credit Analyst I
Location: Manhattan, KS or Emporia, KS
Hours of work: 40 hours week
Full-Time/non-exempt
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
Assist commercial loan officers with analysis, underwriting and annual review of business loans. To limit the bank’s risk of losses by monitoring the quality of the bank’s loan portfolio and keeping management informed of potential losses, trends and compliance problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCE AREAS - Other duties may be assigned
· Assist Loan Officers with analysis and underwriting of existing and potential commercial and agricultural credits. This would include the spreading of the financial statements and preparation of the credit memorandum.
· Assist Loan Officers in creating credit memos/ underwriting of loans to be presented before committees.
· Perform financial projections
· Gather and review financial data for existing and potential clients. Review credit scores, payment history, and be able to understand tax returns for individuals as well as businesses.
· Assist VP Credit Administration with the preparation of annual review of all credit relationships of $500,000 and over. This review would include an analysis of the borrower and all credit facilities as well as a recommendation of the risk rating.
· Attend all loan committee and executive loan committee meetings to provide input on loan discussions as well as to record minutes of the meetings when VP Credit Administration is absent. Also attend Board meetings as necessary to provide input on the credit analysis of loan presentations.
· Provide accurate predictions of credit risks and trends over the short term, allowing the bank to make changes that will limit future losses.
· Monitor compliance lending procedures so that the bank suffers no losses due to non-compliance.
· Provide recommended loan rating for proposed credits as well as provide recommended loan rating during the annual review process for existing credit relationships. These recommended ratings should be in agreement with loan committee, internal loan review and regulator ratings.
· Maintain thorough knowledge of the bank's loan standards and governmental regulations.

Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
· Proficient use of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
· Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· Three to five years of similar or related experience.
· A college degree. Preferably an Accounting Degree
