This position is eligible for Eskaton's health benefits package the first of the month following 60 days of employment and Paid Time Off benefits program after 90 days of employment.
Position Summary:
The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for developing individual plans of recreation therapy and planning, organizing and directing individual and group recreation programs suitable to participants' needs. In addition, the Life Enrichment Director coordinates the student intern and community volunteer program. This is a supervisory position.
The starting salary for this position ranges from $22.75 to $30.95/hour.
Position Responsibilities include:
• Assess the needs and interests of each participant and develop an individualized activity plan as part of the person’s plan of care developed by the assessment team.
• Record, date and sign progress notes in each participant record. Completes required charting and other documentation.
• Organizes, plans and directs individual and group activities, such as exercise, current events, field trips and outings, discussion groups, gardening, etc.
• Maintains compliance with Title XXII requirements that apply to Life Enrichment Program.
• Resolves problems sensitively and effectively, improving staff performance and handling performance problems fairly and appropriately.
• Serves as an effective communication link between unit staff and other units, as well as program management and provides coordination with other units.
• Achieving unit objectives and maintaining high quality unit work.
• Provide or supervise the provision of activities specified in the activity plan.
• Provides supervision and conducts performance review of LE assistant.
Qualifications
Education:
BA in Recreation/Therapeutic Recreation preferred. Life Enrichment Coordinator Certificate (36 hours) is the minimum requirement, unless relevant experience is substituted.
Training and Experience:
Completion of at least 36 hours training in a course designed specifically for this position; an occupational therapist, art therapist, music therapist, dance therapist, recreation therapist, occupational therapist assistant or qualified social worker.
A minimum of 2 years work in social recreational or educational program within the past five years, one year of which was fulltime in an activities program in a health care, mental health or handicapped program setting. Ability to supervise and coordinate ongoing activities.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge of ADHC philosophy and goals. Has experience in assessing individual's leisure needs, writing goals and objectives and planning/leading recreation programs. Possesses an understanding of roles of volunteers and interns in programs. Knowledge of community resources, adjunct therapies, of medical problems, both physical and psychological, and of the principals of group dynamics; techniques in community building. Knowledge of life enriching activities and crafts.
The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, COVID test, TB screen test and health screen.
