Primary Responsibilities
Estimating
- Acquires understanding of the requirements of the project/program at hand
- Selects metrics to produce valid estimates
- Prepares construction budget by studying home plans, updating specifications, and identifying/projecting costs for each evaluation
- Communicates with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects
- Prepares estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products
- Visits sites to gather essential information
- Ensures timely completion of estimates
- Manages bid pricing from all vendors
- Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Prepare detailed reports for bids for submission to appropriate parties
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Performs other duties as assigned
Project Management:
- Manages all aspects of the assigned project, including production, invoicing, budget, and client relations; to ensurecompliance with the project contract
- Develops and manages schedule, change orders, project procedures, and equipment resources needed to complete accurate and timely project production
- Develops and manages the project manpower and milestones for each phase of production, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of project objectives
- Engages with all relevant stakeholders proactively, including business partners, general contractors, customers and regulatory bodies that will have influence over project success
- Coordinates with operations team to identify project risk and negotiate change orders with relevant stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective project production
- Where relevant, presents monthly project reports to the senior leadership team
- Supports and promotes project safety by ensuring compliance with the project safety program and required owner safety policies. Reviews weekly safety reports and participates in monthly safety review meetings with project personnel
- Reviews and approves manpower and equipment needs for efficient and effective project production
- Negotiates dispute and provides resolutions with the relevant stakeholders
- Provides input on equipment procurement methods and contracts to ensure efficient and effective project production
- Leads project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork, obtaining retainages and working with management to resolve any project claims. Leads project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion
- Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Proven experience as a construction estimator
- Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts
- Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
- Comfortable with numbers and technology
- Excellent knowledge of bid software
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Well-organized
- Valid CA Driver License and good driving record
Education and/or Experience
- 3 years as an estimator working on Civil and/or Construction projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction science or related field or equivalent work experience
- Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates
- Knowledge and efficiency in the following Software: Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Takeoff Software
- Strong understanding of commercial construction
- Must have good business written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills
- Must be fluent in English
- Strong customer service skills
- Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $110,000.00 per year
