What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flood Control Project Manager position at ESP?
- Work with subcontractors and external vendors to negotiate profitable contracts
- Recommend value-engineered products to the project team to make the project more cost and time-efficient.
- Provide feedback on construction building materials and potential conflicts as plans evolve.
- Coordinate with agencies on plan checks and submittals, review the plan check comments and get approval on plans.
- Look ahead proactively for the potential construction problems; communicate to architects, engineers, and clients to resolve them
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, construction managers, and architects to determine the needed resources and scope of work, including necessary materials and expected labor required
- Provide the cost estimate of the construction up front and accurately control the budget throughout the project
- Communicate the status of the building project to key stakeholders by providing regular progress reports
- Supervise general contractors and laborers and provide direction when needed to ensure the job is high quality
- Schedule construction operations and create a construction timeline to ensure project deadlines are met
- Acquire the appropriate licenses and permits from the corresponding authorities and ensure construction is up to code
- Comply with all best-practice health and safety standards to prevent injuries and slowdowns at construction sites, and promptly report any safety regulation issues
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with construction project management software is highly valued
- Superb leadership capability, organizational skills, time-management abilities, and communication skills
- OSHA 30 certification
- Knowledge of the construction industry and the entire building process, including building permits, blueprints, building codes, construction equipment, material resources, construction methods, and project management principles
- College degree (Bachelor’s) in construction management, engineering, or another relevant field
- Must have the ability to direct complex projects from concept to fully operational status
- Marketing and presentation skills
- Computer Skills Required – Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to create material take-offs
- Should be highly organized, highly motivated, and a detail-directed problem solver
