What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content Editor position at Establishment Labs?
The Content Editor is responsible for copy-editing, proofreading and production editing for a diverse range of marketing materials, working closely with writers and other creatives to maintain the highest possible standards. The ideal candidate is able to apply technical savvy, a keen eye, and an exceptional attention to detail to ensure clarity and accuracy in each project’s copy.
Necessary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Edit and proofread editorial, marketing, and social media copy.
- Review projects at various stages of the editorial and design process.
- Work with other key stakeholders to draft and/or evolve editorial style guides.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery, while ensuring high-quality texts.
- Leverage glossaries and style guides to ensure alignment with the brand’s tone of voice, ensuring clarity of the message considering it will be translated, and maintaining the highest possible standards.
- Evolving content by eliminating anything outdated, ensuring that content on all platforms is consistent.
- Ensuring that all content created maps to the tenets of the content team.
- Navigating ambiguity with ease, and creatively overcome obstacles and turn challenges into opportunities.
Relationships and Roles:
- Ability to manage a high volume of work and effectively prioritize and keep stakeholders informed of time required to provide the best review, and of anything that needs attention.
- Actively seeking feedback from all levels and work with other editors and writers to maintain consistency in language use and improve the team’s quality.
- Communication skills provide feedback in an easy-to-apply way that various roles can apply right away.
Job Specifications:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in translating, copyediting and/or subediting for marketing and technical materials.
- University degree in English Studies or related fields (Translation, English Education).
- Native English speaker or recent C1 Certification.
- High-quality, professional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Solid understanding and grounding in English style, usage, grammar, and punctuation.
- Knowledge of editing tools to keep track of document review history.
- Previous medical industry experience is an asset (e.g., quality, compliance, process improvement, document control).
- A compelling portfolio that demonstrates high-quality writing within the editorial and/or marketing realms, or letters of recommendation from previous related roles at which you exceeded expectations.
- A willingness to flex between writing, researching, and creative concepting.
