The Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing day to day quality issues associated with suppliers, facilitate improvement initiatives to improve supply reliability and manage overall supplier performance.
This position is responsible for collaborating with internal functions and partnering with suppliers to proactively address supplier quality risks and facilitate execution and monitoring of initiatives to improve supplier processes, capabilities and execution of their overall quality management system.
This role is responsible for executing oversight, performance monitoring, continuous improvement, RCA/CAPA investigations and new launch quality activities across all commodities. Ensures suppliers are compliant to the specifications developed for each new launch. Position must represent the Quality Assurance department in upfront meetings with the functional groups involved with launching new materials at suppliers. Resolve any issues regarding finished products at assigned suppliers.
Implement rollout initiatives based on strategy to assigned supplier portfolio.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to assigned supplier portfolio.
Measure supplier performance periodically according to global/regional KPIs.
Provide reports, areas of concern to Senior Supplier Managers and other counterparts as needed.
Align with a global auditor on specific focus areas for a specific supplier under an ELC audit
Perform supplier risk assessments in line with the framework/process defined by the E2E process mgmt.
Work with QA Audit group to review supplier audit results, provide input for the development of CAPA plans & follow up on CAPA completion and verify its effectiveness as needed.
Perform supplier onboarding through the use of global procedures defined by the E2E process management team; prepare and perform on-site supplier trainings.
Liaise with Quality staff at the manufacturing sites to identify/raise QNs and quality trend towards suppliers.
Regularly review supplier performance with the Supplier QA team and GSR counterparts, identify and mitigate key quality issues and develop action plans in line with the supplier differentiation approach.
Ensure compliance to quality agreement/key QMS requirements.
For new product launches, work with GSR, R&D, PD, Brand QA, and R&D QA to ensure complete understanding of requirements and critical features for new products by suppliers, involving in dFMEA & pFMEA review etc.
Provide oversight of TPM’s conducting the required validations for new OTC products.
Hold periodic performance reviews with key suppliers, develop quality improvement plans w/ quantifiable targets.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree - BS in Packaging/ Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
• Domestic Driver’s License
• 5 years experience
• 60% travel
• Experience in the cosmetic business in R&D, Manufacturing or Supplier Quality Management
• Experience with packaging equipment, filling, pressing, capping and wrapping, etc.
• Strong communication skills with ability to break down issues to basic form that can be easily understood by all levels of management both verbally and in written format.
• Ability to travel on short notice to locations within North America (up to 5-6 hours in one day)
• Must be able to use standard measuring equipment (calipers, scales, torque meters, vision measuring systems, etc.)
• Experience with Quality Management Systems, project management, process mapping, creating specifications and statistical problem solving techniques.
• Strong problem solving skills with ability to analyze root cause.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $81,000 to $133,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
