Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses - one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan.

FIeldston Future Leaders Camp
The Fieldston Summer Camps have created valuable summer experiences for both campers and instructors! We are a six-week summer day camp for rising PreK through 8th-grade children. Both morning and afternoon sessions specifically cater to each camper’s interests. Fieldston Future Leaders Camp is a nurturing and safe environment filled with a fun and exciting way of learning. We have a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, math, and design-based programming that is experiential and project-based. All of our programs cater to leadership development, confidence building, and creativity because we recognize that each child has the potential to make an impact on the world.
Position Summary
The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of best practices and will comply with established procedures and protocols in caring for students with chronic and acute illness, as well as injuries and illnesses that arise during the summer camp day. In addition, the nurse will communicate as needed with families, administrative staff, school psychologists, athletic trainers, and fellow Summer Camp Nurse.
The hiring range for this position is $12,000-$15,000 and is from June 1, 2023 - August 5, 2023.
Specific responsibilities of the Camp Nurse will include:
Managing all health forms for campers, maintain health forms and immunization records;
Daily medication administration and record keeping, routine treatment, monitoring, and care of campers;
Communicating pertinent medical and health information to families and key partners;
Assessing student health concerns and deliver medical care, intervention, and education;
Referring students and families for appropriate follow-up medical care, contact families to follow up on ongoing issues;
Maintaining nursing office supplies;
Preparing documentation and supplies to accompany day and overnight trips
Overseeing Emergency Response protocols;
Ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols;
Providing nursing care and physical screening of students;
Implementing first aid measures for students as needed;
Familiarity with ACS reporting processes;
Work in tandem with a colleague;
Performing other projects, initiatives, and other duties as needed and assigned.
Qualifications
The successful incumbent will possess the following qualifications, skills, experience, and educational requirements:
Current NYS RN license and certification in CPR;
BSN nursing degree from accredited college or university;
3-5 years nursing experience (preferably school nursing);
Knowledge and proficiency with computers and associated software;
Excellent communication and managerial skills;
An appreciation for the uniqueness of 11 to 18 year olds;
Strong assessment skills.
