Job Summary:

The Veterinary Outpatient team member provides an exceptional standard of care for all patients while being the Veterinarians’ primary medical support. The Outpatient team member aids in achieving greater efficiency by relieving the doctor of technical work and cleaning duties. They have a significant role in communicating with and educating clients about pet health and well-being. This position is an essential part of the client experience therefore you must have excellent communication skills, knowledge of veterinary medicine, and excellent multi-tasking and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and uphold the Core Values of Powers Pet Emergency & Specialty.
  • Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
  • Assist with hospital cleaning duties when necessary.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Record all pertinent medical, client, and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  • Assisting client service team members with patient check-in and out when necessary.
  • Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer the phones promptly and in a courteous and informative way.
  • Provide patient care under the direction of the doctors.
  • Obtaining accurate patient vitals and presenting cases to the doctors.

Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, and nursing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain multiple cases at once.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
  • The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to owners and their pets
  • Must be able to excel in a team-oriented environment and work well with all members of the hospital team
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to owners and their pets
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in client education
  • Must be able to lift animals up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and be able to bend or crouch for restraint of patients.

Compensation:

The base hourly range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
