Laboratory Technician

Set up and perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures. Maintain laboratory equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up laboratory equipment and perform laboratory testing on consumer products to produce reliable and precise data.
• Prepare specimens and samples for analysis.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and minor repairs to instrumentation.
• Perform routine housekeeping including cleaning of equipment. Maintain, store and properly dispose of materials as needed.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Record test data and interpret results.
• Perform other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree in applied sciences or equivalent high school diploma with combined laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of proper laboratory techniques and protocols.
• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of test equipment
• Computer literacy required including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-starter, independent, pragmatic
• Flexibility and ability to learn new skills

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Knowledge of various chromatography and spectroscopy techniques which include but not limited to using instrumentation such GC, GC-MS, HPLC-MS, UV/Vis, FTIR, ICP, ICP-MS, and AAS.
• Knowledge of constructing standard operating procedures based on scientific research and methodologies.
