Job Description

• Oversee laboratory production, operations, and personnel carrying out the preparation and analytical testing of tobacco and nicotine-containing products.  Serve at the bench with the team; operate analytical instrumentation as needed.  
• Coordinate workflow, ensure projects are managed, assign duties to team, and perform daily monitoring to meet turnaround times.  Perform data review prior to data release.
• Serve as primary liaison to the client and team.   Work closely with the client to develop, optimize, and transfer new methods into routine production. 
• Perform instrument calibration, troubleshooting, recognize errors, identify root causes, and maintain excellent working knowledge of laboratory processes and instrumentation.   Serve as instrumentation SME, and coach/mentor junior analysts.
• Apply the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility; maintain ISO 17025 quality standards and accreditation for the laboratory.
• Review data, data notebooks, logbooks, and reports to ensure highest quality
• Demonstrate strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration
• Proactively plan and maximize productivity
• Meets all quality and productivity metrics and demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration
• Develop and implement operational improvements; ensure lab is maintained to 5S standards
• Supervise, train, and develop team members with respect to their personal and professional development.
• Conduct semiannual performance reviews, interview applicants, keep training records up to date for assigned employees, perform succession planning in preparation for growth.
• Confront and address problems, concerns, and performance issues
• Coach and develop individual and team to maximize performance
• Monitor and approve employees’ time worked through time-entry system
• Support and promote company policies and procedures

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant laboratory experience
• In-depth experience with Ion Chromatography and/or Metals Laboratory instrumentation
• 4-year degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred
• Understanding of production laboratory operations
• Strong leadership skills
• Detailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills along with demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.
• Demonstrate strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration
• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Additional Information

• Position is full-time, Monday- Friday 8:00-5:00 pm. 
• May be requested to work on weekends, overtime, and holidays based on business needs.
