Job Description
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a client facing environment.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and a positive attitude
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
- Supporting the client Process Sciences and Manufacturing Departments through the laboratory characterization and validation of manufacturing bioprocesses
- Conduct laboratory-scale cell culture studies (shake flask through fed-batch bioreactor and harvest) to support characterization of cell banks and/or manufacturing bioprocesses
- Perform affinity chromatography and viral inactivation in support of lab-scale cell culture activities
- Perform cGLP cell banking activities for research use
- Coordinate with a broader scientific team to align on scheduling of lab activities
- Statistically analyze large data sets and draft technical reports to support commercial filings
- Present on technical topics during cross functional meetings
- Provide technical support to client Manufacturing during troubleshooting and continuous improvement opportunities
- Ensures compliance with SOPs; reports any quality or other anomalies
- Participates in required training activities
Leadership Responsibilities
- Supports and monitors performance of team of analysts
- May participate in new hire interviews
- Supports the on-boarding process of new employees
- Participates in training of other employees.
- Performs peer review of data.
- Assists in coordinating equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Participates in the overtime and weekend schedule as required.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in life sciences/engineering or related field; Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry preferred
- Relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and you have the innate ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize them and execute them independently, while excelling at keeping all impacted parties well advised
- Can take on new and sometimes ambiguous challenges, learning quickly
- The ability to work in a team environment but can also take ownership of large technical reports and projects
- Can develop and drive scientific and/or business-related improvement ideas
- Understand antibody manufacturing processes
- Have a solid understanding of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Position is full-time, 1st shift, Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, NY and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
