Job Description
The Bovine Virology team is seeking a new employee to assist in multiple virology projects. The role will involve projects utilizing a variety of wet-lab skills, particularly emphasizing cell-culture skills, molecular biology techniques and assays involving protein/DNA/RNA. Therefore, a strong background in eukaryotic cell culture and traditional nucleotide and protein assays is essential, as well as the interest and ability to learn new techniques that are key for various virology projects (i.e. viral passage, titration, plaque purification, etc).
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Cell culture experience
- Experience in sterile techniques for maintaining, propagating, and harvesting eukaryotic cell cultures.
- Nucleic Acid Experience
- DNA and RNA extraction
- PCR and/or qPCR
- Ability to maintain excellent records and able to follow/understand protocols.
- Troubleshooting skills
- Interest in learning new virology-related techniques
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Protein Experience- Westerns, ELISAs
- Molecular Bio- Restriction digests, cloning, E.coli culturing and mini/midi preps
