What To Expect
Be a member of the Tesla Commercial Energy Land Development Team, a cross-functional “shared services” team that ensures the successful execution of Tesla’s commercial energy projects. You will support site acquisition and land development efforts for our EV charging, battery storage, and solar projects across all stages of deployment – starting with initial due diligence review and negotiations, into site design and permitting, and into construction.
What You'll Do
Responsible for working with internal teams and external project stakeholders through the entire development cycle on the siting, acquisition, design, and construction of charging, utility and commercial battery storage, solar, and microgrid projectsServe as in-house subject matter expert on land development and environmental site constraints to support acquisition and entitlement of sites identified for charging and energy projectsManage multiple projects throughout diligence, acquisition, planning, and deployment phasesUse GIS tools and databases to develop due diligence analyses for potential project sites across North AmericaSupport preparation and submission of land use and environmental permit applicationAttend site visits, public meetings/hearings, and agency coordination meetings, as well as, work with local, state, and federal permitting authorities through the siting and permitting process with the goal of obtaining permits consistent with the construction budget and scheduleWork with internal teams to solicit and review scopes of work from third party engineering and environmental consultants to support project development
What You'll Bring
Degree in Environmental Planning or a related field or equivalent experienceMinimum of 5 years applied land development experience; 8 years preferredExperience and proficiency in coordinating with local and agency planning staff; researching and synthesizing code requirements; and preparing professional reports and exhibitsKnowledge of land use planning and environmental policy is required (e.g., CEQA/NEPA, CWA/CAA, NHPA, NPDES, USACE, ESA, EPA, local zoning, floodplain development, hazmat, etc.)Knowledge of project design and civil construction fundamentals associated with commercial energy project development (EV charging, solar PV, battery storage) is preferredAbility to identify potential site constraints and work with survey and design team to develop preliminary site plans – proficiency in ArcGIS or AutoCAD preferredExperience managing external consultants and contractors through full scopes
