Quality Technician II

Everest Formulations is a turnkey dietary supplement manufacturing company.
The Quality Technician II will ensure that the company’s product and service will meet both customer expectations and Federal Regulatory Compliance (cGMP). Where appropriate, the Quality Technician provides feedback to Quality Supervisor on changes to improve our Quality System.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Inspect and review all documentation received with raw material, bulk powder, capsules, tablets, and packaging components for each shipment.
  • Identify if raw material, bulk powder, capsules, and tablets contain allergens or if organic and apply corresponding labels.
  • Ensure that all received materials are quality released for production prior to using it to produce a work order.
  • Visually inspect all shipments to ensure the specification, and FDA cGMP safety regulations are met.
  • Perform line clearance before the start of a work order by visual inspection and swabbing using ATP and Aller Snap and Record results on iAuditor.
  • Review COA’s to ensure all material, bulk powder, capsules, and tablets received are within specifications.
  • Review manufacturer’s COA against internal specifications and report any non-conformances.
  • Perform in-process inspection during production runs to ensure we meet product specification, and FDA cGMP safety regulations.
  • Review artwork on packaging components against Customer approved artwork to ensure that they are within customer specifications.
  • Measure packaging components to ensure they are within customer approved specifications.
  • Coordinate and collect samples going for submission to the in house, outside laboratory and for R & D.
  • Collect samples for quality retains.
  • Record all inspections of each shipment and create a file folder.
  • Review and release all raw material, bulk powder, capsules, tablets, and packaging components in ERP system.
  • Maintain daily logbooks.
  • Review and approve lots as part of our COA Validation Program.
  • Inspect and investigate all internal non-conformances and plant related CAPA to report the root-cause analysis to Quality Supervisor and/or Quality Manager.
  • Monitor the production processes and ensure work order documentation to ensure that each work order and or lot is manufactured according to its validated process.
  • Inspect all procedures to be well executed by our employees, if poorly executed record and report to Quality Supervisor.
  • Monitor product safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Escalate non-compliance to the Quality Supervisor and/or Quality Manager and follow up on timely corrective actions.
  • Assist with internal audits as needed.
  • Train and mentor new technicians in the receiving and in process inspection process.
  • Follow the facility’s GMP, food safety and food quality programs to assure compliance and achieve desired results.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus).
  • Proficient math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and decimals, in all units of measure).
  • Effective planning and organizing skills as they relate to production processes, machinery, and warehouse operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple work duties and assignments effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of production methods/systems, continuous improvement processes, problem analysis and resolution.
  • Proficient inventory management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of quality system awareness as they apply to FDA cGMP standards.
  • Technology savvy to use computers, tablets, and (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to maintain a positive, cooperative work-relationship with employees, peers, management, customers, and the public.
  • Team player, excellent follow-through skills.
  • Ability to comply and support all company policies, procedures, and work rules, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Adaptable and flexible to workplace changes and new job duties and responsibilities.

Selection Guidelines: Education, Experience & Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Fundamental understanding of GMP and food safety. Prior experience in a regulated environment preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of work experience as a quality inspector in a similar work environment; or any combination of experience, education, and training that will provide the level of knowledge, skills, and ability required for the job.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

This position requires some exposure to a wide range of temperatures and humid conditions; handling of certain hazardous chemicals; use of PPE as required; standing 100% of the day, ability to reach overhead, grasp, push/pull, climb stairs/ladder and lifting of up to 50 lbs.

  • Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during course of work shift.
  • Required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, in the performance of this role.
  • Required the use of hands, speech, and hearing and use of feet to operate machinery/equipment. Agility to operate machinery and frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Lifting limitations for this position: 25-50 lbs.
  • Vision requirements: close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed.
  • The employee is sometimes exposed to airborne particles.
  • Noise level for this work environment is moderate to high (may require the use of earplugs when performing duties in specific production areas).
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirement. Lab coat, hair net, beard net (if necessary), mask, wash boots, goggles, and latex gloves in the production area.
