Description
The Vice President of Supply Chain is a newly created position at Evergreen and will have responsibility for Procurement, Logistics, Demand Planning and Scheduling, Inventory Control and negotiations, among others.
Requirements
Procurement Inventory Control:
- Oversees the activities in procurement and inventory planning of materials, equipment, and services.
- Lead project to optimize procurement of key materials to deliver significant savings to the company.
- Responsible for supplier performance in alignment to corporate objectives, to ensure continuous improvement, on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost reduction.
- Leads or directs major contract negotiations with critical suppliers to secure consistent supplies and competitive prices.
- Reviews supply requirements and develops policies and procedures for the purchasing and materials planning areas.
- Responsible for hands on material planning as required, ERP maintenance, and supplier forecasting / capacity planning.
- Works closely with various functional groups to balance customer responsiveness with capacity and material constraints.
- Responsible for meeting inventory turns and inventory accuracy targets.
- Creates and implements policies and procedures that meet standards and maintains physical to logical integrity at all points in the material flow.
- Ensure that appropriate work instructions and documentation are developed and maintained, and ensures direct reports are trained appropriately.
- Monitor inventory levels by class monthly, revise targets and ensure compliance by the owners of each type of inventory.
Logistics and Distribution:
- Oversees Logistics, which manages the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of utilization in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to meet the requirements of customers.
- Inbound- is responsible for coordinating the transfer of raw products and materials from suppliers to operations, where and when they are needed, for production and labeling.
- Intercompany- is responsible for coordinating and optimizing all in-house inventory movement, warehouse utilization and outside warehousing.
- Lead the Purchasing team in the development of most optimal buying plans, ensuring prompt, accurate, and cost-appropriate bale shipments.
- Support the development of strategic partnerships with third-party logistics firms to provide flexible and secure shipping options. Drive for industry-best service levels.
- Synchronize with the manufacturing team to optimize material workflow
- Lead the ongoing evaluation of our distribution strategy and make recommendation of changes, improvements, and expansions.
- Lead the project to simplify sales freight charges.
- Lead the ongoing evaluation of our sales freight costs to ensure that the freight charges on sales of products are in alignment with our freight charge methodology and process and that we are recovering all freight costs.
Planning and Scheduling:
- Oversee Planning and Scheduling, which will work with demand planning and customer service to schedule production and labeling to meet customer requirements, as well as coordinate with procurement and logistics to supply the inputs required to meet the schedule.
- Oversee Inventory Control, which will focus on improving our cash position by efficiently managing inventory, while still maintaining our high standards of customer service.
- Ensure every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities.
- Champion the S&OP process.
- Monitor and ensure compliance of production with production scheduling.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Logistics, Supply Chain or other related field.
- Preferred Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain Management
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean concepts is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of broad-based supply chain experience
- Strong experience with ERP systems
- In-depth knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes and best practices.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Leadership in change management
- Expertise in contracting and negotiation

Role Objectives
In the initial year of hire, the objectives and measurables for this role are as follows:
- Define with procurement manager a plan for improvement of material purchasing strategy, implement plan and deliver proportional results.
- Lead and implement strategies based on bale index
- Finalize, document, and implement improved process for production planning and inventory control.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost savings opportunities.
- Develop process for short term forecast and production planning to ensure optimization of resources (people and working capital). Short term being “next two months”.
