Job Summary:Job Summary
Provides leadership and assistance in the day to day operations of the charging, billing, insurance follow up and denial management. A lead primarily performs the same work as others in the classification; in addition is directly accountable for monitoring and reviewing work assignments of other employees, checking work for accuracy, assisting in making daily work assignments, assisting with developing work schedules, or giving advice and work instructions to other employees. Fulfills all of the job functions and responsibilities of the EH Prof Billing positions.
Primary Duties:
EHPB Patient Accounting Assistant:
1.Audits, reconciles and records clinics and department cash bags daily.
2,Receives, reconciles and records lock box deposits, credit card payments, department transfers, miscellaneous insurance payments, electronic funds transfers, patient statement payments, and collection agency payments.
3.Prepares daily bank deposit.
4.Responsible for verification of daily and month end balancing and record keeping of monies received to money posted on accounts.
5. Responsible for creating, implementing, and training new clinics on point of service collection system.
6. Accountable for following the guidelines for attendance, punctuality and overall dependability. Accountable for effective performance and follow-through of all assigned responsibilities and for completing responsibilities within designated (or agreed upon) timeframes. Completes responsibilities in a manner consistent with organizational policy, goals and values.
7.Responsible for the “Accountabilities” associated with this position in support of the organization.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
EHBP Customer Relations Specialist:
1.Handles all incoming customer service calls efficiently. Identifies nature of patient inquiry or concern and determines appropriate course of action; interprets policies and procedures as they relate to specific inquiries.
2.Edits, audits, and rebills accounts as needed by following all department procedures.
3.Manages the Complaint Process, forwards to the appropriate department, coder, etc. and logs them.
4.Performs and completes proration activities on the account.
5.Processes returned claims mail.
6.Processes Motor Vehicle authorizations.
7.Processes Labor and Industries correspondence and insurance carrier updates.
EHPB Payment Application Specialist:
1.Accurately enter, balance, post payments and contractual allowances in a timely manner.
EHPB Refund Specialist:
1.Investigates self pay and insurance credit balance encounters and takes appropriate action for resolution.
2.Investigates insurance overpayment /offset correspondence and takes appropriate action for resolution.
3.Handles patient phone inquiries regarding refunds.
4.Process refunds due from coding audits.
5.Mails refund checks attaching appropriate back-up documentation.
6.Process mail returns on refund checks.
7.Process Unclaimed Property credits.
Minimum Qualifications
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Basic accounting principles.
- Knowledge and experience in working with health care insurers’ and their reimbursement systems , especially Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle and contract payers.
- A good understanding of CPT, Modifiers, HCPC, ICD-9 codes and medical terminologies.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Ten-key by touch
DESIRED for the position:
