What are the responsibilities and job description for the NUC Info Security Analyst position at Evergy?
- Design, implement, and support engineering changes associated with critical digital assets and systems governed by 10 CFR 73.54 regulation.
- Provide oversight and guidance in the design, implementation, administration, operation, and support of existing and new critical digital assets and systems in ICS/OT environment.
- Provide oversight and guidance to site leadership and staff to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Coordinate the implementation of process improvements and automation.
- Assist with building training processes and documentation for both technical and business users.
- Conduct comprehensive cybersecurity assessments of nuclear systems, networks, and facilities to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement robust cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the unique requirements of nuclear environments.
- Monitor and analyze network traffic, system logs, and other data sources to detect and respond to cyber incidents in a timely manner.
- Perform regular security audits on nuclear systems to proactively identify and address potential weaknesses.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies within the nuclear industry and adapt security measures accordingly.
- Work closely with engineering and technical staff to ensure that security measures do not compromise the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities.
- Provide training and guidance to personnel within the organization to promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness and best practices.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external partners to ensure compliance with industry-specific cybersecurity standards and regulations.
- Participate in incident response and recovery activities, including analyzing the impact of cyber incidents and assisting in recovery efforts.
- Prepare and present detailed reports to management and stakeholders, outlining security risks, mitigation strategies, and recommended improvements.
- Nights and weekends rotational on-call.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalent preferred.
- Strong understanding of nuclear systems and processes a plus.
- Proficiency in cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including intrusion detection, network monitoring, and vulnerability assessment.
- Experience with security frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, IEC 62443, or equivalent nuclear-specific standards.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to cybersecurity in the nuclear industry (10 CFR 73.54, NEI 08-09).
- Ability to obtain Unescorted Access to secure nuclear facilities.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a critical infrastructure environment, preferably within the nuclear sector, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to stay up-to-date with evolving cybersecurity threats and trends.
- Experience with an industry leading SIEM technology (SIEM administration will be a plus).
- Understanding of key IT/Cybersecurity concepts (Network Security, Encryption, Authentication, etc.).
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: CISSP or equivalent preferred.
Working Conditions: Must be able to support on site work at nuclear power plant. Must be able to work independently after initial on-boarding/training. Up to 50% remote; based on work assignments and with manager approval.
