Engineer II: $75,600 - $94,500 - $113,400
Staff Engineer: $84,500 - $105,600 - $126,700
Sr. Engineer: $85,500 - $114,000 - $142,500
Lead Engineer: $89,900 - $119,900 - $149,900
Principal Engineer: $100,700 - $134,200 - $167,800
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., flexible work arrangements upon manager approval which generally include up to three days working from home per week.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
With minimal supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of transmission line design and analysis. Regular duties include line routing, structure design and selection, foundation design, conductor evaluation, budget estimates, structure spotting/survey, preparation of labor and material specifications, construction drawings with bills of material and construction contract documents. Coordinates projects with other departments for successful execution of work. Conducts failure investigations, reviews internal and external projects that impact existing or planned transmission facilities and develops plans to ensure safe operation of the transmission infrastructure. Implements new technologies to increase reliability of operations. Direct contact with customers at their locations and work schedules may be required periodically.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Engineer I - Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program: Civil Engineering degree preferred
Engineer II - 2 or more years of engineering experience
Staff Engineer - 4 or more years of engineering experience.
Sr. Engineer - Typically possesses 8 or more years of engineering experience and an active member of a recognized industry committee or published in recognized technical journals or at minimum has two related career experiences or clearly demonstrated team leadership abilities on critical projects. Engineering in Training (EIT) certification required.
Lead Engineer - Typically possesses 12 or more years of engineering experience. Advanced technical degree preferred. Professional Engineering license preferred. Proven expertise in key functional areas, demonstrated leadership abilities and wide breadth of business understanding.
Principal Engineer - Typically possesses 15 or more years of engineering experience. Advanced technical degree preferred. Professional Engineering license required. Proven ability to mentor and the knowledge and ability to handle significant or complex problems.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Requires proficient knowledge of basic engineering principles and advanced mathematics. Prefer a working knowledge of power systems, a mechanical aptitude and surveying experience. Must be proficient in use of PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, and foundation design software such as MFAD or LPile. Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheets, word processing and database software. Successful candidate must be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using good judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Working knowledge of the technical environment and all governing codes and regulations, including the National Electric Safety Code, is preferred. Requires the ability to plan, design and supervise a project to completion, within time and budgetary constraints. Must have demonstrated good organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others. Must have excellent teamwork and people skills. Must have initiative and be a self-starter.
Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Must have a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to EITs or PEs.
Working Conditions:
Conditions will vary from office, substation, and power plant and transmission line field environments. Must be able to work additional hours on short notice in office and field settings through normal and severe weather conditions. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
