Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate Software Engineer (Python/Cloud) to join our team at PlugShare, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging platform that empowers users to find charging stations, leave reviews, and connect with other plug-in vehicle owners. This position will be based remotely and report to our Head of Software.
As a key part of our backend team, you will be responsible for working with our wide variety of industry partners to build code for ingesting data into the PlugShare platform. An ideal candidate will have communication skills to work directly with other backend engineers and our editorial team to ensure highly successful implementations. Other critical skills include attention to detail and an aptitude for understanding a wide variety of APIs.

Based in El Segundo, CA, PlugShare is home to the world’s largest community of EV drivers and maintains the most comprehensive census of EV charging infrastructure in the world. PlugShare enables drivers to easily locate and navigate to chargers, offering the ability to filter results by network, charging speed or connector type (e.g., CCS, CHAdeMO, NACS/Tesla). The PlugShare app is available for download on iOS and Android, including in-dash for Android Automotive OS, and online. PlugShare also provides sophisticated data dashboards and reports to automakers, utilities, charging networks, government, and the rest of the EV industry. Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy coding in Python
- Leverage Rest APIs and other data sources to integrate charging station data onto our platform
- Develop a deep understanding of the EV charging subject matter, PlugShare data model, and industry standards such as OCPI
- Build and enhance data pipelines from various sources
- Ensure proper functioning of data pipelines, including health of pipelines and data integrity
- Partner with teams to drive and improve efficiency and automation
- Work with the backend and data developers to improve data quality and consistency
- Collaborate with other developers, product, design, and sales on designing solutions to solve problems
- Integrate with third-party services
- Implement automated data export processes
- Develop and maintain technical specification documentation for data flows
- BS/BA in Technical Field, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience coding in Python, SQL, Restful APIs
- Experience leverage Restful APIs
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
