Job Description

Summary

The AV Specialist is primarily responsible for the Audio / Video aspects of project builds and the ongoing maintenance of our studios' AV elements.

Secondarily, the AV Specialist is expected to assist with overall studio construction and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, configure, install and maintain studio audio-video components and infrastructure (cameras,lights,microphones, AV processing units, cabling and connectors, mounts and gear, etc.).
  • Establish and refine AV related installation and maintenance processes. Collaborate with, report and make recommendations to management and other departments concerning AV related issues, procedures, improvements, quality control, etc.
  • In addition to primary AV duties, assist with the overall construction and maintenance of the studios and associated elements (gaming tables, low-voltage cabling, lights, decorative elements, studio floor infrastructure, etc.).
  • Assist in establishment and refinement of work processes, resource planning, time and material management, etc.
  • Plan tasks and delegate to other team members as necessary and when appropriate. Attend planning sessions and meetings as needed.
  • Be aware of and follow regulations (Gaming regulations, Evolution Policies, OSHA compliance, etc.), guide teammates in compliance and report areas that need attention to the Team Lead or Manager.
  • Request, order, maintain and be responsible for needed equipment, tools and materials.
  • Assist the Team Lead to model proper procedures and techniques. Help to observe and assess new employees' training needs / progress to the Senior Studio Support Specialist, Team Lead and Manager.
  • Occasionally help to prepare and provide required reports, provide needed information to team members and other departments.

Keep track of important updates, information, etc. and relay that information in a timely manner to fellow crew members.

  • Perform other duties, as asked by the Team Lead or Manager, which are related to this position.
  • Replace colleagues during their vacations, sick leave and other absences. Replacement takes place during the working time, and it is not considered as additional work.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements and Competencies

  • Secondary (higher, technical) education or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable experience working with audio-video technology, hardware, software, etc.
  • Understanding of audio-video concepts and practices (e.g. Audio EQ and mixing, analog / digital signal processing and rack mount gear, light / color balance, aperture settings, aspect ratios, video switching, frame rates, etc.).
  • Ability to create and terminate SDI and XLR cables are a desired asset. Experience with DANTE audio systems is considered as a significant advantage.
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Understanding of and ability to apply / interpret measurements and related tools
  • Experience working with assorted building materials (e.g. wood, metal, tile, plastic, carpet, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of electricity and electrical wiring concepts. Experience soldering and terminating low-voltage cables are a desired asset.
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed written and verbal instruction
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. email, instant messaging, MS Office or similar apps, etc.
  • Punctuality, reliability and experience working with a team.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally travel (within the U.S. and abroad).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions

This position requires

  • Close attention to detail in adhering to standards set out by the Technical Operations team
  • Observation of safety principles when working around power tools and electricity (OSHA)
  • Participation in an on-call system to respond to (infrequent) emergency support requests
  • Carrying of a company-provided phone as a direct and reliable means of contact
  • Ability to contribute extra hours outside of regular weekly working hours in order to deliver on tight deadlines (Overtime).
