The Production Manager will set the vision and direction of the production and distribution departments by providing leadership and technical support to improve the Pasadena plant operations. There will be a heavy focus on improving the site distribution process to ensure efficient use of the site infrastructure and personnel, while optimizing networking capital to meet the business needs. Site CAPEX will be a continual focus and this role will support the technical department to ensure that production needs are addressed and met with site projects.
The role has direct responsibility for all operations staff and management of that group. The Production Manager will work closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure that overtime is managed to keep employee retention high. They will be responsible for maintaining an accurate production schedule and working closely with the supply chain group to ensure that production efficiency is a main focus. The role will also manage the site procedures to ensure that they are updated as needed. Working closely with our GPR colleagues to approve new raw materials and working with the technical group on site NPI’s will also be a focus. The site’s training program will be within the responsibility of this role.
The distribution management portion will have a main focus on ensuring that all packaging and shipments are made according to specification and shipped on-time. Managing the site re-work and waste materials will also be a focus, with minimizing both and ensuring that all materials are stored and accounted for accurately. Oversight and management of all cycle counts for the facility including site raw materials, intermediate materials, final products and spare parts is also the responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for manufacturing and overall site operations at the Pasadena site. Responsibilities encompass production operations, planning, logistics and maintenance activities, housekeeping and functionality of buildings in a manner that provides an efficient work environment for employees. Provide leadership in determining required equipment, technical upgrades and capital expenditures.
- Owns responsibility, with the Site Leadership Team, for the EHSQ performance of the Pasadena site. Manage the site in such a manner that it provides a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, and the community.
- Continually build production capabilities of the site through stable operations to optimize its corporate contribution through process improvements and Capex projects/investments while protecting the investment in current equipment through the implementation of appropriate maintenance programs.
- Monitor and review performance against HS&E KPIs, and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility; Take action improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions.
- Responsible for production quality to ensure quality products are produced on a consistent basis within acceptable time and cost constraints to meet all customer requirements. Oversee customer complaint process to ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented to eliminate repeat occurrences.
- Effectively and consistently utilize regional GPR and SC groups which are responsible for technology transfer and new product development within the platform. Supports the interface between all associated groups to implement process improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement in all areas of the site by being a site leader with ESHQ initiatives and production expertise.
- Attracts, trains, and retains a capable workforce. Enforces work rules and site policies and directs the performance management process for all employees. Fosters a positive work environment characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, accountability, and open communication.
- Is a site leader with the Evonik values of trust, openness, performance and speed and works to eliminate silos across the site with good collaboration with other managers.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
- 10 years of production/engineering experience Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level. Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework. Applies expertise to act as the organizational authority on developing appropriate plans or performing necessary actions based on recommendations and requirements.
