B2B SaaS company in Vancouver, WA is seeking a versatile and proven Assistant Manager of Software Development to join our rapidly growing team. Evosus is a growing software company focused on building world class cloud ERP software. We're currently the top business software in the Pool, Hot Tub and Hearth industries and we're quickly expanding to additional industries.

Here’s a snapshot of what we want you to do:

This position works to support our Development Team working on a large SaaS web application by maintaining a thorough understanding of our application’s structure as well as our clients’ business needs in order to help the team build a first-class business management software in the cloud. This position will collaborate closely with the Development Manager and Lead Developers to accomplish the duties and functions below.

Here’s what you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Work with product owners to analyze wireframes for new feature requests. Attend all grooming sessions and assist developers with identifying technical hurdles and proper time estimates.
  • Clearly and regularly communicate with Product Management and the Development Manager to understand business requirements and processes.
  • Own technical documentation for the development team by creating and updating pages in Confluence, including development best practices, coding standards, feature documentation, and compliance documents.
  • Establish and manage code review processes. Collaborate with Lead Developers to ensure processes are followed and performed by senior team members.
  • Organize and schedule meetings and coordinate meeting agenda to drive team discussions regarding best practices and document what is agreed upon.
  • Assist in review of application structure and database schema to verify adherence to best practices and coding standards to ensure scalable and high-quality software.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the team’s task tracking software, Jira, by creating cards, checking story point estimates, and updating card contents as necessary.
  • Lead sprint kickoff/retrospective meetings at the beginning of each new sprint to highlight accomplishments and allow team discussion for upcoming tasks.
  • Serve as a backup to the Development Manager in company-wide meetings as directed.
  • Participate in new developer onboarding and contribute to new developer reference documentation.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of industry experience coding/architecting complex systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3 years of additional industry experience
  • Understanding of Relational databases and object-oriented programming
  • Experience with business logic and processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of industry experience coding/architecting complex systems
  • Master’s Degree in related field or 4 years of additional industry experience
  • 2 years experience leading other software developers
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Jira task tracking software experience
  • Experience partnering with product management teams
  • Retail, Warehouse or Field Service Management experience
  • Mendix Development experience

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position with expected workdays of Monday through Friday. Work hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility for alternate hours at manager discretion. The employee may also be required to work extended hours or weekends in order to meet deadlines or travel.

  • $120,000-$130,000 annually. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the compensation range based on their qualifications and professional experience, as well as the needs of our business.
