SUMMARY
 
The Electrical Power Studies Project Manager will act as a technical expert in the analysis, design, and optimization of electrical power systems, primarily serving clients within the renewable energy sector. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing complex projects from inception to completion, emphasizing power quality, reliability, and system efficiency. The candidate will encompass strong interpersonal skills to provide high-level consultancy services and will play a vital role in ensuring that project objectives are met on time and within budget, while simultaneously nurturing long-term client relationships. 
 
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.  Hybrid or remote location considered.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project design, specifications, and plans support
  • Review work for Quality Assurance and Quality Control and ensure compliance with EVS quality standards
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients
  • Support the power electrical team create models, analyze systems, and write reports for utility and distributed scale solar projects.
  • Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKM
  • Analysis for wire in trenches using software like AmpCalc or CYMCAP
  • Grounding studies using CDEGS or SKM Ground Mat
  • Harmonic and transient studies
  • PSSE, PSCAD, or PSLF modeling
  • Assist in relay settings for Solar projects
  • Support the electrical team to create full set medium voltage electrical drawings and calculations for utility and distributed scale solar projects
  • Electrical medium voltage conductor sizing and design
  • Electrical collection system and substation one-line diagrams
  • Continuous knowledge gain of PV system components like modules, racking, inverters, transformers, and balance of systems
  • Possesses a good understanding of, or has a willingness to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keeping up with emerging technologies
  • Review shop drawings, responding to request for information (RFIs), and assisting with general construction support services
  • Participate in public involvement which may include reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6 years’ experience working as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC
  • 2 years' project management experience required
  • EIT certification or path to move towards certification is preferred
  • CYMCAP, AmpCalc, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSSE, PSCAD, or CDEGS desired
  • Understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems
  • Grounding studies basic theory and methodology
  • Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodology
  • Proficient with MS Excel spreadsheets and data management
  • AutoCAD, manual drafting, and electrical line drawing
  • Passionate about the renewable energy business and project development
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Positive and professional attitude
