SUMMARY
The Electrical PV & BESS Project Manager will be a key member of the engineering team with responsibility of managing a team to complete Issue for Construction and Preliminary Engineering drawings for Utility Scale and Distributed Generation PV and Energy Storage projects. The Electrical PV & BESS Project Manager will directly manage a team of engineers and designers at various skill levels to complete projects. The candidate must be passionate about the renewable energy business, hardworking and thrive in the fast pace growing engineering firm. This position reports to the Associate Director of Solar PV & BESS.
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing/creating full set Utility Scale and Distributed Generation PV and Energy Storage projects including but not limited to:
- Site plans
- Electrical line diagrams
- Equipment Specifications
- PVsyst Analysis
- Construction Details
- Utilizing excel and tools to create PV Wire schedule and bill of materials for the project.
- Delegating and guiding others to complete AutoCAD tasks and occasional AutoCAD drafting.
- Deep knowledge of utility scale PV system components like modules, racking, inverters, MV cable and accessories, and other BOS components.
- Attending client meetings and effectively demonstrate PV and Energy Storage Electrical Engineering competence
- Demonstrating expert understanding of NEC, applicable UL and IEEE Standards and other applicable codes and standards
- Researching and understating emerging renewable technologies.
- Managing project budgets
- Supervision of team members’ billability and quality.
- Manage and negotiate schedule with clients and internal stakeholders
- Collaborating with the Electrical Studies team to ensure information required to complete tasks on time is received and communicating changing information to the client.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical/aerospace engineering
- 5 years’ experience working as a Lead Engineer/Project Engineer/Project Manager for an engineering consulting firm, EPC or Solar Developer within the Utility Scale PV and Energy Storage industry.
- NABCEP Certification and Electrical Engineer-in-training (EIT) and PE highly preferred
- In depth experience with AutoCAD and manual drafting of construction details, site plans and electrical line drawing
- Expert understanding of Electrical Engineering, balance of plant components and monitoring systems of Utility Scale PV and Energy Storage systems.
- Familiar with Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
- Understanding of power studies software such as ETAP, AmpCalc, SKM or CYMCAP will be highly valuable, but it is not required
- Excellent organizational skills with experience using RFI, progress tracking, and resource allocation tools.
- An excitement for project design, optimization, and a desire to create something new.
- Strong communication skills. An ability to explain technical topics to individuals of any technical background and negotiate schedule and scope with a client.
- Experience leading a Utility Scale PV and Energy Storage project technically coordinating all aspects of the design.
- 2 years of indirect or direct people management experience.
- Track record of mentoring or leading engineers and designers at all stages of their career technically to deliver projects.
